The dental applications of implantology are called "oral implantology". Dental implants can be defined as "elements that are applied to the jawbones instead of missing teeth and support the prosthesis".
Osseointegrated dental implants, which initially emerged for the rehabilitation of all edentulous cases, have expanded the field of indication in the light of the successful results detected over time and have become to cover the treatment of all forms of tooth deficiency. There are a number of rules and examination stages that should be followed during the treatment planning phase. These are the general anamnesis, intraoral examination and radiographic examination, respectively. Then, anatomical formations and bone topography are examined and implant treatment details are determined according to the edentulous condition of the case. Case-specific anatomical-systemic situation, number of implants, implant diameter and length, implant localization, intermaxillary space, periodontal health of existing teeth, implant-tooth connection, attachment types are the factors considered in treatment planning.
